English as a Second Language is for students who are foreign born, and English is not their first language, with a focus on college and career readiness. Services are provided to English language learners who are adults, including professionals with degrees and credentials in their native countries, that enables such adults to achieve competency in the English language and acquire the basic and more advanced skills needed to function effectively as parents, workers, and citizens in the United States.
These classes are designed to help the student learn to communicate in English. In addition to learning the basics of reading and writing the English language, students learn how to get help in emergency situations, how to shop for their families, how to deal with currency, learn to use a computer, and prepare for employment.
