Our classes offer hands-on clinical experience to better prepare one to work as a professional nurse assistant with confidence. Students will complete a total of 141 hours inclusive of class, laboratory and clinical experiences obtained in long-term care facilities consistent with the standards of practice as directed by the North Carolina Division of Health and Human Services encompassing the knowledge and skills required under the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA). Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination for listing on the N.C. Nurse Aide Registry. There is an additional cost for this test of $120.00 to be paid when registering online for the written and practical examination. NOTE: You cannot preregister for this class. Register for orientation prior to class date.

Prior to attending orientation, you will need to get a Nurse Aide packet from Corporate and Community Education (252-222-6200), complete a criminal background check ($25 fee) and 12 panel drug screen ($52 fee) through usinfogroup.com, and sit for a TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) reading test unless a degree or college entrance exam has been completed. Social Security card and valid government ID are required at orientation. You will register and pay $229.80 for the CNA I class of your choice at orientation if all paperwork is complete with approved criminal background check and drug screen needed for clinicals.
This course will help the student become proficient in their skills as a CNA I in order to pass the North Carolina test for CNA I. This course is for any North Carolina CNA that has let their certificate expire within two (2) years. If coming from another state, must complete the North Carolina CNA I program. This is a 40-hour course. Upon completion of the CNA I Refresher, the student will be eligible to take the N.C. test at Carteret Community College or a regional testing facility. There is an additional cost for this test of $120.00 to be paid when registering online for the written and practical examination.
