In this class for beginners, you will learn each of the 26 letters in the English alphabet that are represented with a unique sign in American Sign Language (ASL). You will also learn about laws affecting the deaf community and receive an introduction to the profession of interpreting and other career options for signers. Learn how to introduce yourself, form questions and exchange information, describe your surroundings, and tell about your family and about the community where you live. Textbook: Signing Naturally Units 1 – 6.
Gain the ability to communicate and use the most common structures of the language. Become familiar with greetings and basic commands used in daily situations.
