Black History Celebration

Carteret Community College proudly announces its 28th Annual Black History Celebration, happening on February 17th at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center. This annual event honors exceptional young African American students in Carteret County at the 8th and 12th-grade levels, along with students at Carteret Community College, who have achieved outstanding academic excellence with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

This year’s program features keynote addresses from two distinguished Carteret Community College alumni, Jenmekia Gay and Shameka Frazier. Ms. Gay, a 2022 graduate of the College’s Welding Technology program, now serves as a full-time welding instructor at Coastal Community College. Ms. Frazier, a 2024 graduate of the College’s Nursing program, works at CarolinaEast Medical Center in Craven County. Their inspiring journeys motivate current and future students to pursue their educational and professional goals with determination and excellence.

This event welcomes the public, and all are encouraged to attend.
