2024-2025 Military Friendly School Gold Status
Carteret Community College was awarded Gold status as a 2024-2025 Military Friendly School for its efforts in creating sustainable and meaningful education paths for the military community.
Get started at Carteret CC
Whether you’re a first-time college student or transfer student, you will complete Carteret CC’s enrollment steps to begin earning college credit.
Submit your official military transcripts for evaluation and possible transfer credit. You also must provide the DD Form 214 discharge document if you are a veteran.
Step 1: Apply with the VA
To begin using your educational benefits, you must apply with the Veterans Administration. You can apply online for VA benefits and/or work with Carteret CC’s Veterans Certifying Official to determine the best benefit program for you.
Step 2: Apply with Carteret CC
Additionally, Veteran students will need to submit an Institutional Application for Veterans Benefits.

VA requires you to select a program of study and make satisfactory progress toward completing your degree. Identify the your program of study and provide a copy to the Veterans Certifying Official.
You are responsible for following enrollment regulations to maintain your VA benefits. The Veterans Certifying Official can assist you along the way.
Optional Steps
Apply for additional aid & scholarships
Complete the financial aid steps to apply for grants, loans, and/or work-study. You can receive financial aid in addition to your VA benefits.
You also may apply for a variety of scholarship opportunities, including some reserved for military and veterans.
Disability services
Apply for disability services to receive assistance or accommodations, if needed.
When to pay tuition & fees
In most cases, you must pay tuition and fees when you register. Contact the Veterans Certifying Official before your tuition deadline to confirm.
Please note: Students using the Post 9/11 GI Bill must submit a Certificate of Eligibility. Upon receipt, tuition and fees will be paid by the VA. All other VA Chapters must either have a financial aid award, set-up a payment plan, or pay out-of-pocket by the published deadline.
