High School Equivalency
Ready to earn your high school credential? Carteret Community College’s High School Equivalency (HSE) program is tuition-free and provides flexible options to help you prepare for the GED® or HiSET® exam.
Classes are available in English and Spanish and are offered on campus, online, and at select off-campus locations. You’ll receive support from certified instructors as you build the reading, writing, math, science, and social studies skills you need to succeed.

English as a Second Language
Carteret Community College’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program helps non-native English speakers develop the language skills they need to communicate confidently at home, at work, and in the community. Classes focus on practical reading, writing, speaking, listening, and everyday communication skills in a supportive, welcoming environment.
Whether your goal is to improve your English, advance in your career, continue your education, or become more engaged in your community, the ESL program provides the tools and support you need to succeed.
Exceptional Adult Education
Exceptional Adult Education at Carteret Community College provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to continue learning, build independence, develop workplace and life skills, and become active members of our community. Learning extends beyond the classroom through hands-on experiences, community service, recreation, and partnerships with organizations throughout Carteret County.
From Special Olympics and outdoor exploration to recreational activities and skill-building experiences, every opportunity is designed to foster confidence, friendships, and lifelong learning. At Carteret, students are welcomed into a supportive college community where they are encouraged to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
