On October 13, 2020 the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 presented the Carteret Community College Board of Trustees with a $20,000 check establishing the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 Danielle S. Smith Scholarship Endowment. This endowment will provide an annual scholarship to eligible veteran students or family members of veterans.

To qualify students must complete an application with the Financial Aid office, be a veteran or a family member of a veteran, enrolled at Carteret CC full-time, and reside in Carteret, Craven, Jones, or Onslow county. The  scholarship will be available beginning Fall 2021 and will provide unrestricted funds which can cover tuition, fees, books and other costs associated with obtaining a degree. Scholarship recipients are required to attend at least one DAV meeting.

Interested students should contact the Financial Aid Office at (252) 222-6293.
