A Family-Friendly Day of Learning, Exploration, & Fun!

Carteret Community College and the Croatan Sierra Club invite you and your family to join us for Earth Day 2025: Learn and Play! This free community event will take place on Tuesday, April 22, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Bryant Student Center, bringing together exciting hands-on activities, local organizations, and engaging presentations—all designed to celebrate and protect our beautiful coastal environment.

“At Carteret CC, we believe in learning by doing, and Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to engage our community in meaningful ways,” said Cindi Goodwin, chairperson of the Energy and Conservation Committee at Carteret Community College. “This event isn’t just about education—it’s about coming together as a community, having fun, and discovering how we can all play a role in protecting our environment.”

Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a curious learner, or just looking for a fun way to spend the day, there’s something for everyone.

Family-Friendly Activities Include:

  • Hands-on exhibits from organizations like Cape Lookout Volunteers, Coastal Carolina Riverwatch, Plastic Free by the Sea, Duke Energy, and more.
  • A recycling sorting challenge and interactive games for kids.
  • Live native plants to touch and learn about.
  • Giveaways, stickers, and fun surprises for all ages.

Learn from the Experts

Join us for engaging talks on solar and wind energy and discover how the College’s Workforce Continuing Education Energy and Conservation programs are shaping a greener future. These sessions will take place in Bryant 3226 and may also be live-streamed. More info coming soon!

Make an Impact

Want to roll up your sleeves for a good cause? Join the Clean Sweep shoreline cleanup, hosted by Litter-Free Land & Sea, and help keep our waters pristine. The cleanup kicks off at the Observation Pier, located at the southwest corner of the Bryant Parking Lot.

Dive into Aquaculture

Take a special behind-the-scenes tour of Carteret CC’s Aquaculture facility, where you’ll get an up-close look at the marine life and sustainability efforts happening right here on campus.
