
Adult High School
Program Overview
Carteret CC’s Adult High School (AHS) program is a tuition-free consisting of core courses required by the public school system along with electives offered by the community college. Graduates receive an Adult High School Diploma issued by Carteret Community College and the Carteret County Board of Education. The AHS diploma is the equivalent of any public or private high school diploma.
Requesting Transcripts
Students may request their Adult High School transcripts by submitting the request below.
Program Requirements
- Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll in any class.
- Students must attend orientation.
Attendance Expectations
It is necessary that Carteret Community College students regularly attend their classes in order to learn. According to our Affiliation Agreement with Carteret County Public Schools, all Adult High School students must complete a certain number of hours per class. In order for a student to receive a credit, the student must be in class a specified number of hours; complete the individual class; and earn a passing grade of A, B, C, or D.

Steps to Register
Step 1: Register for Orientation
Select an available session to attend the mandatory AHS Orientation with the link provided below.
Step 2: Provide Documentation
Documents that must be brought to the mandatory orientation:
- Social Security or Tax ID card (signed) (copies not accepted). If you do not have access to one of these items, you may still be eligible to participate. Call us at (252) 222-6083 for information.
- Government or state issued photo ID (no school or work ID’s accepted)
- Sealed Official High School Transcript from last high school attended (If there is not a transcript available, student will start classes with 0 credits.)
Step 3: Minors (ages 16 & 17)
Minor students aged 16 or 17 attending orientation must:
- Provide Picture ID with date of birth and signature
- Provide Social Security card
- Be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
- Provide proof of high school withdrawal OR an official school withdrawal form
- Minors who:
- Separated from high school less than six (6) month ago - Provide an approved “Application to Attend Carteret CC Basic Skills Program” packet from their local high school OR
- Separated from high school less than six (6) month ago - Provide a Minor Release Form
