Nurse Aide

We are committed to educating entry-level nursing assistants by helping them achieve the level of knowledge, skills and abilities required to provide the basic care required by residents of long-term care facilities.

In addition to long-term care, CNA’s are also hired at hospitals, home care settings, hospice, and is a prerequisite to other healthcare programs such as nursing.

Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll be eligible to sit for the competency exam through Credentia for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.

Prerequisites

  1. Complete mandatory orientation
  2. Complete background check and drug screen prior to start of class (required for clinical rotations)
  3. Required documentation of immunizations or exemptions for clinical rotations

Nurse Aide II

The Nurse Aide II course prepares graduates to perform more complex skills for patients or residents. A skill evaluation is required for documenting student competency. The 176–hour course includes class, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Upon satisfactory completion of the course and competency evaluation, the graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Prerequisites

  1. High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma within 3 months of CNA II class completion
  2. Registered on NC Nurse Aide Registry in good standing
  3. Drug screen and background check completed before the first day of class (required for clinical rotations)
  4. Required documentation of immunizations or exemptions for clinical rotations

Refresher Course – Nurse Aide I

Course topics:

  • 40 hour class with 100% attendance required
  • Review all skills required as a CNA
  • Tests as refreshers for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program
  • No clinical hours required

This is a NC DSHR approved course for a refresher of the CNA skills required to retake the NNAAP skills test.

Prerequisites

  1. Have a current or expired North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry listing number.
  2. A school transcript listing successfully completed courses equivalent to North Carolina State-approved Nurse Aide I training.
  3. Military health care training that is equivalent to North Carolina State-approved Nurse Aide I training.
  4. Hold a state recognized health care credential from any state.
