Carteret CC has been notified of a phishing email that is currently being circulated with subject lines:

“[UNC ALERT: Important Notice]”
or
“[Carteret ALERT: Important Notice]”

Please be aware that our organization does NOT use Google Docs or Google Forms to collect personal information. Furthermore, Carteret CC will never request your account password, authenticator codes, or any other credentials that could compromise your account security.

If you receive an email with these subject lines or a similar variation, please delete it immediately and do not interact with any embedded forms.
Report any suspicious communications to our IT Help Desk via email at [email protected], or via phone at 252-222-6196.

Should you have already interacted with the phishing email or provided any information, or if you suspect your account may have been compromised, contact the IT Help Desk without delay using the contact information above to obtain support in securing your account.

To help you recognize phishing attempts in the future, here are five common indicators:

  1. Unexpected requests for personal or financial information.
  2. Urgent or threatening language pressuring immediate action.
  3. Mismatched email addresses, links, or domain names.
  4. Poor spelling and grammar.
  5. Offers that seem too good to be true, or solicitations for charitable contributions.
