Carteret Community College’s Black History Committee and Culinary Arts Program are proud to announce the return of the highly anticipated Taste of the South, taking place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 6 PM. This annual tradition invites the community to come together in celebration of the rich heritage, flavors, and spirit of the Southern experience.

More than just a dinner, Taste of the South is a vibrant showcase of culture, community, and academic excellence thoughtfully hosted by the Black History Committee and Culinary Arts Program. At the heart of this event are the talents and dedication of our Culinary Arts graduates and current students : Dajah Sandifer, Alasha Dillahunt, Derek Blanding, and Aaliyah Battle. Their creativity, discipline, and passion bring this celebration to life.

Guests will enjoy a carefully curated menu that reflects both the traditions and evolving artistry of Southern cuisine. Each course is prepared by current students and recent graduates who have demonstrated excellence through SkillsUSA competitions, the Escoffier Dinner Series, and global engagement opportunities such as the Goellner French Exchange Program.

Beyond an extraordinary meal, Taste of the South plays a vital role in advancing student achievement. Proceeds from this event help support scholarships and educational opportunities that empower students to continue their academic and professional journeys.

“This evening is about more than great food it’s a celebration of student achievement, cultural heritage, and the power of community,” shared Ashley Bizzell. “We invite everyone to be part of this meaningful and memorable night.”

Join us for an unforgettable evening that honors tradition, uplifts our students, and makes a lasting impact.
