
Associate in Engineering
Program Overview
The Associate in Engineering (AE) program at Carteret Community College is an excellent starting point for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering. This degree aligns with the transfer requirements for engineering programs at North Carolina’s public universities. By completing the AE degree, students will meet the entrance requirements for all public Bachelor of Science in Engineering programs across the state.
The AE curriculum focuses on foundational coursework in mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering principles. To earn the degree, students must complete at least 60 semester hours of credit (SHC).
Opportunities for High School Students
High school students can also begin working toward this degree through our Career & College Promise (CCP) program, allowing them to get a head start on their engineering education.
Local Pathways
Students have the unique opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering through NC State's Havelock Engineering Program, conveniently located in Havelock, NC.

Associate in Engineering - University Transfer
University transfer degrees, such as this one, are designed to set you up for success at a four-year college or university. Typically completed in about two (2) years, these programs provide a strong academic foundation and seamless transfer opportunities.
