Emergency Management Functions

The Security and Emergency Preparedness department oversees the functions of Carteret CC’s Emergency Management. They are charged with planning for unexpected incidents to maximize safety and minimize risk.

Planning is based on the four interconnected phases of emergency management: prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

  • Prevention/Mitigation — Identifying and preventing/minimizing the consequences of hazards to Carteret CC.
  • Preparedness — Improving resilience through planning, training, raising awareness, and collaborating with Carteret CC’s community partners.
  • Response — Effectively communicating and implementing emergency procedures in response to threats and real incidents with the goal of saving lives, protecting property, and minimizing damage to the environment.
  • Recovery — Ensuring continuity of academic and business functions while supporting the Carteret CC community, remediating damage, and rebuilding stronger than before.
