One Haircut at a Time

At Carteret CC, we believe education extends beyond the classroom—it’s about making a difference in our community. On Saturday, November 23, the Barber Academy students exemplified this by partnering with New Wave Barber Studio and the renowned Simon Martin to offer free haircuts to those in need.

“It was a fantastic turnout, even on this chilly Saturday morning,” shared PJ Scott, Director of the Barber Academy. “Watching our students use their skills to serve others reminded us why we do this. Barbering isn’t just about cutting hair. It’s about connection, confidence, and giving back. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this effort. Together, we’re making a difference, one haircut at a time.”

The event not only provided haircuts but also strengthened the bonds between our students and the community, reinforcing the values of compassion, service, and skill-building that Carteret CC strives to instill.

• Saturday, December 14: Visit the Barber Academy students at the North River Community Grounds in Beaufort.
• Saturday, January 25: The Barber Academy will be at The Bridge Downeast in Harker’s Island.

Both events are open to the community and a perfect chance to see our students’ exceptional skills in action while enjoying a fresh new look.
