Highlights from the May 8, 2024 BOT Meeting

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024 the Carteret CC Board of Trustees met for their monthly meeting. Copies of board agenda packets and meeting minutes are available here.

  • SIX state SkillsUSA Gold Medalists were introduced at the Board of Trustees meeting.
  • Two check presentations were made. One from the Henry Family Legacy Scholarship and the second from the Pine Knoll Shores Women’s Club Scholarship.
  • Cindi Goodwin presented on Operations & Facilities, highlighting this year’s campus improvements, current projects in the works, and the fantastic team she gets to work with.
  • The Board reviewed a revised Title IX policy, based on new federal regulations for a first read. A second read and vote will take palce at the June meeting.
  • The Board conducted their annual review and recommitted to the College’s Mission Statement:  “Carteret Community College serves and empowers our students and coastal community by providing high quality education, workforce training, and lifelong enrichment in an innovative and inclusive learning environment.”
  • The Board took action on the following items:
    • Approved proposed fee schedule for 2024-2025
    • Approved the 2025-2026 Academic Calendar
    • Approved the termination of the Early Childhood Education associate degree program and certificate effective Fall 2024 to focus College resources on Teacher Preparation degrees and continuing education Early Childhood licensure preparation
  • The Board accepted receipt of five parcels of land the College’s Foundation owns. This land will be surveyed and reparceled as part of the process for determining site appropriateness and design of the future Workforce Center for Construction Trades and Transportation Technology.
  • The Board approved for the College to proceed with improvements to the McGee Building piping and HVAC of up to $1.2 million, with the generous support of the County.
