On Friday, Dec. 8, Western Carolina University Chancellor Kelli R. Brown and Tracy Mancini, president of Carteret Community College, virtually signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions that guarantees admission to WCU for all Carteret graduates who satisfy certain requirements.
The memorandum will offer a direct pathway for students at Carteret to earn their four-year degree at WCU.
“Western Carolina University is proud to partner with Carteret Community College in streamlining the pathway for transfer students to further their education at WCU,” Brown said. “I am a proud community college graduate and I understand the importance of opportunities such as this that give students access to a high-quality education at a four-year institution.”
Mancini is excited for the opportunities Carteret graduates will have at WCU.
“The NC Promise tuition of $500 per semester at Western Carolina University makes high-quality degree completion for our associate degree graduates very affordable,” Mancini said. “I have visited WCU’s campus in the last year and am impressed with their investment in STEM and public safety programs, as well as their overall commitment to teaching and learning excellence. We look forward to hearing that some of our students go from Carteret to being Catamounts.”
Students who are interested in participating must satisfy the following conditions:
