College Transfer

The College Transfer Pathway (CTP) is designed for students who plan to attend a four-year institution. The College Transfer Pathway lets you complete college-level classes (tuition free!) while you’re in high school that will transfer seamlessly to any school within the University of North Carolina System or participating private college or university.

College Transfer Pathway Eligibility

High school students interested in the College Transfer Pathway must meet the eligibility requirements outlined below.

OPTION 1

  1. Be identified as gifted by local AIG plan in English/reading and math; and
  2. Demonstrate college readiness in English/reading and mathematics on an approved assessment (See Attachment A in the Career and College Promise Manual under Important Documents above.); and
  3. Receive recommendation verifying the student has maturity to enroll from high school principal or equivalent administrator and recommendation of AIG Coordinator (if one is employed by the district); and
  4. Receive approval of college president or the college’s chief student development administrator or the college’s chief academic officer; and
  5. Receive written consent of the student’s parent/guardian; and
  6. Receive academic advising prior to enrollment in the program.

OR

OPTION 2

  1. Be identified as academically or intellectually gifted in English, reading and math on an aptitude and achievement test as evidenced by a score in the range between the 92nd percentile and the 99th percentile on an aptitude and an achievement test included in the Mental Measurements Yearbook published by the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements; and
  2. Demonstrate college readiness in English, reading and mathematics on an approved assessment (See Attachment A in the Career and College Promise Manual under Important Documents above.); and
  3. Receive recommendation verifying the student has maturity to enroll from high school principal or equivalent administrator and recommendation of AIG Coordinator (if one is employed by the district); and
  4. Receive approval of college president or the college’s chief student development administrator or the college’s chief academic officer; and
  5. Receive written consent of the student’s parent/guardian; and
  6. Receive academic advising prior to enrollment in the program.

1.Have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.8 on high school courses. (Students who do not meet the unweighted 2.8 GPA may still be eligible for Career & Technical Education Pathways)

OR

2. Demonstrate college readiness in English, reading and mathematics on an approved assessment (see Attachment A in the Career & College Promise Manual).
