August 23-24th is the 15th Annual Oriental Dragon Boat Race & Festival located at the Grace Harbor River Dunes in Oriental, North Carolina. The BEST PART…All race entry fees for students and employees have been waived, so there is no cost for Carteret CC students or employees!

What is Dragon Boat Racing?

It’s an incredible sport where paddlers move in perfect unison, blending strength and teamwork in beautifully designed boats that trace their origins back to ancient China. Dragon Boats are the world’s largest flat-water racing canoes, powered by a crew of 20, a drummer, and a steersperson. Teamwork and synchronicity are more crucial in dragon boat racing than individual strength.
