N4CSGA | Inspiring Progress

Carteret Community College is proud to announce that Jennifer Maldonado-Castro has been selected as the North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association (N4CSGA) President for the 2024-2025 academic year. Maldonado-Castro’s appointment as the N4CSGA President makes her the second student from Carteret Community College to serve in this prestigious role, marking a significant milestone for the institution.

N4CSGA is a student-led organization committed to representing and advocating for the 58 community college student government associations across North Carolina. The executive board, composed of 12 student leaders and three advisors, plays a vital role in ensuring the voices of community college students are heard and respected. As the newly appointed president, Maldonado-Castro will serve as a non-voting member on the State Board of Community Colleges, representing the collective interests of NC Community College students.

Maldonado-Castro’s selection comes on the heels of the recent recognition of Carteret CC’s commitment to student leadership. During the Annual Spring Conference, Carteret CC’s SGA officers, along with their advisor Kristian Jenkins, attended the event where Jenkins was presented with the 2024 Advisor of the Year Award for the NC Eastern Division by the N4CSGA Executive Board. This accolade underscores Carteret CC’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for student leaders to thrive.

“We are thrilled to see Jennifer Maldonado-Castro assume the role of N4CSGA President for the upcoming academic year. Her dedication to serving her fellow students and her demonstrated leadership skills make her an excellent choice for this position,” said Dr. Tracy Mancini, President of Carteret Community College. “We are immensely proud of Jennifer and confident that she will represent our institution and the entire NC Community College student body with integrity and passion.”

In her new role, Maldonado-Castro aims to prioritize initiatives that promote inclusivity, student well-being, and academic success among community college students across the state. She is committed to working collaboratively with student leaders, administrators, and stakeholders to address the evolving needs of the community college system.

“I am deeply honored to have been chosen as the N4CSGA President, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my peers and advocate for their interests,” said Jennifer Maldonado-Castro. “I am so appreciative for Carteret CC and the support I feel from the staff and faculty. It’s what has empowered me to begin this endeavor and I look forward to working alongside my fellow student leaders and advisors to make a positive impact on the community college experience for all students.”

As Jennifer Maldonado-Castro embarks on her tenure as N4CSGA President, Carteret CC celebrates her achievement and reaffirms its commitment to empowering student leaders to make a difference in their communities.
