The Crystal Coast Fire Academy (CCFA) is a 18-week evening program not to exclude Saturday days that involves some day time internship hours. Academy cadets receive North Carolina Fire/Rescue certification courses in the areas of Firefighter and Hazardous Materials NC L1 Responder. Additionally, cadets will receive NIMS 100 and 200 certification. Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) concepts will be taught as part of the curriculum along with other expanded firefighter topics including LP Gas firefighting. At the end of the academy, cadets will be taught job preparatory skills and will be exposed to a job placement process.

Academy Start Dates

The Crystal Coast Academy runs 2 times a year:

  1. August – December

    M-F | 5 – 10:30 PM

  2. August – December

    M-F | 5 – 10:30 PM

Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Crystal Coast Fire Academy students graduate as a NC certified Firefighter level 1 & 2, as well as a Hazmat Responder. Graduates enter the service with the knowledge, skills, and competencies ready to serve the community and respond to real life emergencies.
