This program provides a comprehensive study of operative care, patient care concepts, and professional practice concepts within the profession of surgical technology. Topics include preoperative, perioperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care and preparation. Upon completion, students should possess the clinical skills to maintain asepsis during surgery, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, remain attentive to all aspects of the surgical procedure to ensure a safe environment, and knowledge necessary to obtain certification as an entry-level Surgical Technologist.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Prerequisites

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
  3. Must complete a Surgical Technology Information Session and submit confirmation documentation.
  4. Must meet with the Surgical Technology program chair.
  5. Must have current CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) before the first day of class.
  6. Complete background check and drug screen prior within 3 weeks of starting the program.
  7. Required documentation of immunizations or exemptions for clinical rotations.
