Transfer to Western Carolina with Catamount Connection

Do you dream of becoming a Catamount? The Catamount Connection Program provides guaranteed admission for students transferring between Western Carolina University and Carteret CC.

Each year, qualified students transfer from Carteret CC to WCU to pursue degrees in more than 120 majors, minors, and concentrations including education, engineering, criminal justice, forensic science, nursing, biology, chemistry, environmental science, and psychology, just to name a few. Western Carolina University offers some Distance Education degree completion programs in addition to programs offered on the main campus in Cullowhee.

Eligibility

  • Catamount applicants must be or plan to be enrolled at Carteret CC as a full–time student (minimum 12 hours a semester)
  • Must be completing an AA, AS, AE, AATP, ASTP, or AFA degree from Carteret CC
  • All students must meet Western Carolina University admissions requirements and comply with university admission policy to be eligible

Note – The Catamount program does not guarantee admission to a specific major or program – additional application materials may be required for more competitive majors.

Benefits

  • Guaranteed admission to WCU after successfully completing an A.A. or A.S. degree at Carteret CC, provided all eligibility requirements above are met.
  • NC Promise tuition plan reduces the cost of in-state tuition to $500 per semester at WCU has resulted in a significant increase in the number of students transferring to WCU from community colleges
  • The program affords Carteret CC students access to information about academic programs, faculty, and staff at the WCU Campus who will facilitate their transition to WCU

How to apply

Students interested in the Catamount Connection program must enroll at Carteret CC as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours per semester).

Use the Catamount enrollment form to apply now! Students are also asked to complete the transfer application and indicate which semester they plan to attend WCU after completing their degree with Carteret CC.
