Workplace Safety Training

January Training Topics
All Employees
1. 15-Passenger Van Safety
Why take the training? CCC has a 15-passenger van available to CCC employees traveling on CCC business. Whether it is a group of employees or employees driving students to an event, this course is great for renewing the importance of safe traveling.
- Length- 21 minutes
- Summary- There is growing concern regarding the safety of 15-passenger vans and the injuries and fatalities that can result. Fifteen-passenger vans are more likely to be involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash than any other type of vehicle. Compounding this problem, the rate of safety belt use among occupants of 15-passenger vans is very low compared to those in other types of vehicles, increasing the likelihood of severe injury and fatality. This course reviews the issues specific to passenger vans, such as unique vehicle characteristics, loading cargo/passengers to minimize the risk of rollover, backing safely, proper tire care, and strategies to reduce crash risks.
2. Slips, Trips, & Falls
Why take the training? Slips, Trips and Fall hazards are not specific to workplace safety. This course will renew awareness for daily life, especially with the cold weather and icy conditions arriving in January.
- Length- 17 minutes
- Summary- This course provides specific guidelines to help prevent slip, trip and fall injuries, best practices for walking on slippery surfaces, precautions to avoid trip hazards and safety policies that keep employees from taking fall risks.

3. Hand & Power Tool Safety Overview
Why take the training? Your safe practices will help lead students to follow safe practices. Also, if you like DYI at home and use tools, this will refresh safely operating hand and power tools.
- Length- 25 minutes
- Summary- This course will provide employees with an understanding of the best practices for safely operating hand and power tools on the job. The course will review basic hand tool safety, guarding requirements for power tools, and safety requirements for power tools.
4. Confined Space Entry Awareness
Why take the training? Work or home, people find themselves in confined spaces
- Length- 21 minutes
- Summary-A confined space is defined as a work area which has all of the following characteristics: sufficient space for a person to fit within and perform work, limited means of entry and exit, and a design that was not intended for continuous worker occupancy. This course will provide general awareness on confined spaces, differentiate between a permit-required and non-permit required confined space, and describe the job roles and responsibilities involved in confined space entry.
