Breaking the Stigma

Breaking the Stigma Awareness Walk

Morehead City, NC (October 9, 2023) – On Saturday, October 21st, the Carteret CC Student Government Association (SGA) will host a “Breaking the Stigma” Awareness Walk from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bryant Student Center.  Attendees will have access to valuable resources and information concerning mental health, substance abuse, and the path to recovery, followed by an inspiring address from Carteret CC graduate, Abigail Wears before the walk. The event is free and open to the public.

“The event is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health, substance abuse, and recovery in our community,” said Kristian Jenkins, SGA Advisor. “By hosting this event, the SGA at Carteret Community College is taking a proactive step towards destigmatizing important issues like mental health and substance abuse. We invite everyone to join the walk and help break the stigma with us.”
