PTK Has Amazing Year
Campus Week of Giving
The Beta Delta Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Carteret Community College had an extraordinary year, thanks to the generous support of the Carteret Community College Foundation. With the funds provided, the chapter embarked on an incredible journey, attending key PTK events, including the Honors in Action (HIA) project, the Leadership Conference, the Regional Awards, and, for the first time, the PTK International Catalyst.
The chapter members used a portion of the funds to start a small craft business, creating handmade items that were sold to raise additional funds. The proceeds went towards fellowship meals, activities, and allowing members to bond over shared experiences and strengthen their sense of community. The chapter also dedicated time and resources to building a beautiful yearbook that captured their memories, achievements, and growth throughout the year.
Another significant focus was their research on the “art of play”—an initiative aimed at exploring how play could be incorporated into students’ lives and their communities to enhance learning and well-being. This research became a cornerstone of their HIA project, becoming coaches to sponsor Special Olympics for Havelock High School. This demonstrated the chapter’s commitment to making a positive impact both within and beyond their college.
Their hard work and dedication paid off in remarkable ways. At the Regional Awards, Beta Delta Pi was recognized with several prestigious honors, including Distinguished Advisor, Chapter Officers, and Chapter Officer Team awards. The chapter’s yearbook also won first place, a testament to their creativity and teamwork.
The support from the Carteret Community College Foundation not only made these achievements possible but also transformed the chapter’s vision into reality, setting a high standard for future endeavors. Beta Delta Pi’s story is one of ambition, collaboration, and the power of community—a story that will inspire future members for years to come.
