As Carteret CC’s Success and Retention Coach, Julie provides personalized support to ensure you have the tools to succeed this semester.

She is located in the McGee MAPS Center —a space dedicated to student success. Stop by for expert advice, encouragement, and resources designed to help you stay on top of your coursework.

How Julie Can Help You

Julie is your go-to resource for time management, study skills, and academic strategies. She can help you:

• Stay organized with customized time management techniques that fit your schedule.
• Develop stronger study habits to improve comprehension and retention.
• Master note-taking strategies that make reviewing material easier.
• Improve test-taking skills so you can walk into exams feeling confident.

Need Extra Tutoring?

In addition to Julie’s in-person support, Carteret CC offers free online tutoring through NetTutor. Available through Moodle, this service provides tutoring across a wide range of subjects.

Getting started is easy. Log into Moodle, select your course, and find the NetTutor link in the Introduction or Course Information pages of your course. If you can’t find it, contact Julie or your instructor for assistance.

You can drop in for a live tutoring session, submit a paper for feedback, schedule an appointment, or leave a question and get a response—all without leaving home.

Communicating with Your Instructors

A big part of academic success is staying connected with your instructors. If you’re struggling with an assignment or don’t understand a concept, don’t wait to ask for help.

When emailing an instructor, keep it clear and professional. Use a specific subject line that includes your full course title and section number, like:

Subject: Question in 2025SP-ENG-112-BL1 – Assignment Due [Date]

Introduce yourself, briefly explain your concern, and mention any steps you’ve already taken to find a solution. Check your syllabus first to see if your question has already been answered, and always allow enough time for your instructor to respond.
