9/11 Anniversary Commemoration

Morehead City, N.C. – Carteret Community College will hold a 9/11 Anniversary Commemoration on Friday, September 11, 2026, to honor and remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call to serve, and all those forever impacted by the events of September 11, 2001.

The commemoration will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. behind the McGee Building on the Carteret CC campus, located at 3505 Arendell Street in Morehead City. The event is open to the public.

Twenty-five years after the events of September 11, 2001, the significance of that day continues to resonate across generations. As our nation marks this solemn anniversary, we pause to remember the lives that were lost, honor the extraordinary acts of courage and sacrifice, and reflect on the unity that brought Americans together in the days that followed.

Carteret Community College invites students, employees, first responders, veterans, community members, and families to come together in remembrance. The ceremony will provide an opportunity to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders and service members, and ensure that the stories and lessons of September 11 continue to be carried forward.

Wrenn Johnson will welcome those in attendance and introduce Chief Wade, who will deliver the keynote remarks for the commemoration. Their participation will help guide the College and community through a meaningful time of remembrance and reflection.

For Carteret Community College, the annual commemoration is an opportunity not only to remember a defining moment in our nation’s history, but also to ensure that its stories of courage, sacrifice, service, and unity continue to be shared with future generations.
