Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis  It’s time to tie your shoes and start walking! On Friday, April 28th the Respiratory Therapy program at Carteret Community College will host its annual Walk for Cystic Fibrosis, "Great Strides 5K" Registration begins on campus at 12:30 p.m. near the parking lot in front of the McGee Building and a minimum $10.00 donation is requested.  The walk starts at 1 p.m. and participants will follow the newly completed walking trail around campus before continuing east to 25th Street and returning back to campus.  The event is open to the community. Children in strollers and dogs on leashes may join the walk, as well. Carteret CC Trustees Announces Barwick Award Winner Morehead City, N.C. (April 19, 2023) - At its meeting on April 12, 2023, the Carteret Community College Board of Trustees selected Mrs. Janet Eshleman as the recipient of the 2023 Dr. Joseph T. Barwick Civic Award for her 30 years of service, support, and commitment to Carteret County. Janet and her late husband, Jim, moved to Morehead City in 1992. Over the course of the next 30 years, Janet dedicated herself to community service and became known for her “fundraising wizardry.” As a member of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, she helped raise many thousands of dollars between 1996 and 2003.  After such success, Janet took her talent to the Carteret County Historical Society where she served as president from 2003 to 2013 until she retired...

UNCW School of Social Work Partners with Carteret Community College to Provide Bachelor’s Degree Pipeline Morehead City, N.C. (June 16, 2021) - UNC Wilmington has partnered with Carteret Community College to create the first transfer program within the University of North Carolina System for students wishing to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Students who have successfully completed an associate degree in the Human Services Technology program at Carteret Community College and meet admission requirements of UNC Wilmington's Bachelor of Social Work program will be admitted to the program. This means that students have a straightforward pathway to completing a bachelor’s degree. Social work courses will be offered online and once admitted, students will receive individual advising on the program and required courses. Carteret Community College Celebrates Black History Month Carteret Community College will celebrate its 25th Annual Black History Celebration, themed “Black Health and Wellness,” on February 21 at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center. Carteret Community College Awarded Second USDA Grant Morehead City, N.C. (November 9, 2021) – Carteret Community College (Carteret CC) was awarded $508,751 from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) grant program. Carteret CC is one of 105 projects funded by the USDA DLT grant program. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced $50 million of investments in 37 states and Puerto Rico. This program helps fund distance learning and telemedicine services in rural areas to increase access to education, training and health care resources that are otherwise limited or unavailable. Student Wins Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year Scholarship Morehead City, N.C. (March 29, 2021) – Latecyia “Cece” Johnson, a junior at Marine Science & Technologies (MaST) Early College High School, has been named the Beaufort Teen Center Youth of the Year, Carteret County Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year, and runner up for the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain Youth of the Year. The Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plan honor earned her a $1,000 scholarship.
