Next NC Scholarship for New & Current Students

Morehead City, N.C. (July 9, 2024) – Carteret Community College is excited to announce the launch of the Next NC Scholarship, a financial aid program designed to support North Carolinians from households making $80,000 or less. This scholarship fully covers tuition and fees for eligible students, making higher education more accessible and affordable.

The Next NC Scholarship provides students attending community college with at least $3,000 per year. That means having their tuition and fees 100% covered at any

of the 58 North Carolina community colleges, including Carteret Community College. The scholarship can be used for various educational expenses beyond tuition, such as fees, books, food, and housing. This generous financial aid opportunity ensures that more students can achieve their academic goals without the burden of repaying loans.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the Next NC Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a North Carolina resident eligible for in-state tuition.
• Be a high school graduate or have completed a high school equivalency.
• From a household with an annual Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less.
• Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program for the 2024-2025 academic year.
• Take at least 6 credit hours per semester (partial awards for part-time students).
• Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards of Carteret CC.
• Complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA with a resulting Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below 7,500.

Application Process:

Applying for the Next NC Scholarship is straightforward. Students need only to submit the FAFSA form. Eligibility for the scholarship will be determined based on the information provided in the FAFSA, and there are no additional forms required.
