Federal Work Study

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program offers jobs both on and off campus. Students participating in the FWS program work on campus and are generally employed by staff and faculty members in various departments as clerical or lab assistants.

America Reads or America Counts students are employed in Carteret County Elementary Schools as reading and math tutors for elementary school students. A paid training session is required. A background check is required for students participating in these programs.

For either program, students must be a US citizen or permanent resident enrolled in an eligible program, demonstrate financial need and meet eligibility requirements. Students may earn up to their remaining need. Students are paid once a month for work completed.

Child Care Assistance

The Financial Aid Office administers the Child Care Assistance programs. Funds are provided to student parents who need child care assistance in order to attend college classes. Students must complete a FAFSA and a Child Care Assistance Application located on the Students Form page or download below. Funds are awarded on a first come/first served basis and students must show a substantial financial need. Funding is provided to pay licensed day care centers or home providers.

The priority deadline is May 1st preceding the beginning of the new academic year.
