In an effort to make college possible for all who desire it, Carteret Community College offers many courses online, requiring reduced or no on campus presence for students.
Online courses enable students with families, jobs, and other responsibilities to pursue college credits and degrees, continuing education credits and other lifelong learning opportunities. They include all courses in which students and teachers are in different locations for all or part of the course and have the same admission, registration, attendance, and academic requirements as on-campus classes.
Learning online can be an exciting and rewarding experience. However, as a student you need to understand that it is different in many respects from traditional face-to-face learning. How you receive and give information, interact with fellow students and instructors, and submit assignments are just a few of the differences.

Before you enroll in an online or hybrid course, you should have first take our Online Orientation. Even if you are not planning to register for a DL course now, it is advised that you go ahead and complete the orientation.
Carteret Community College has been approved by the State of North Carolina to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary education. Students enrolled in online/ distance courses at Carteret CC who have a complaint about grades, College decisions, or other Carteret CC procedures should follow the College’s policies for Student Complaints and Grade Appeals process.
All U.S. States require post-secondary educational institutions to be legally authorized to provide post-secondary educational instruction in their states. Many of these state laws and regulations also apply to online, distance and correspondence educational instruction offered in that state. As such, Carteret Community College and its distance learning program must be authorized in certain states prior to offering those courses or programs to students residing in those states.
Programs at Carteret Community College that prepare students for professional licensure are designed to prepare a student to apply for applicable licensure in North Carolina. If you are considering an online program at Carteret CC that leads to licensure or certification and you do not live or intend to practice in North Carolina, please contact your program of interest prior to beginning the course of study.
Learn anywhere! Online curriculum classes are offered through a website called Moodle. These classes are interactive and include learning materials and activities that your instructor tailors to deliver course content that meets the learning outcomes for each course.
Carteret Community College’s Continuing Education department offers a variety of opportunities to receive online instruction. We offer a wide range of highly interactive courses that you can take entirely over the Internet. We also offer online instruction as part of a classroom course.
