Carteret Community College Earns 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School Designation Morehead City, N.C. (March 17, 2022) - Carteret Community College announced today that it was award the Gold rank status as a 2022–2023 Military Friendly® School. Carteret CC was award gold for their leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. The Military Friendly® Schools survey is the longest-running most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving military and veteran students. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey with 665 earning awards level designation in Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Student selected as semifinalist for Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship Morehead City, N.C. (March 3, 2022) – Carteret Community College is proud to announce Associate in Science student, Brittney Moore was selected as a semifinalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship. This highly competitive scholarship through the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation awards each recipient up to $55,000 per year to complete their bachelor’s degree at selective four-year institutions. “I am transferring to the University of North Carolina Wilmington this fall,” said Brittney. “Receiving this award would mean I do not have to worry about being able to finish school. Carteret Community College Hosts Free Classroom Opportunity Morehead City, N.C. (March 2, 2022) – Carteret Community College (Carteret CC) invites the public to return to the classroom in its next lecture on March 3, 2022 at 6 p.m. in the Wayne West Building room 222. This lecture will explore the respiratory therapy field and what Carteret CC’s Respiratory Therapy students are learning. Trisha Miller, Carteret CC’s Respiratory Therapy Chair, will discuss Oxygen Transport, and how oxygen and carbon dioxide move between the lungs and tissues. A Second Chance with Basic Skills Traditional high school didn’t work out for Devin Roth. Neither did his family’s attempt at home-schooling.  After relocating from Connecticut to North Carolina and battling frequent periods of illness, Devin found himself in the difficult position of falling behind in his schoolwork and lacking support from his teachers. Frustrated with the situation, he dropped out of high school. (February 11, 2022) – Beginning this month, the For ME (Minority Entrepreneur) Networking Group will host quarterly themed small business vendor expos on the campus of Carteret Community College. The first expo themed Black History Month Small Business Vendor Expo, will feature over 30 vendors and is scheduled for February 26th from 11 am - 3 pm in the McGee parking lot on campus. Carteret Community College Celebrates Black History Month Carteret Community College will celebrate its 25th Annual Black History Celebration, themed “Black Health and Wellness,” on February 21 at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center. This is an annual event that celebrates the academic achievements of Carteret County’s exceptional young African Americans.  The in-person event is limited to student honorees and their families, but will be made available and streamed live for the public on the college's website.
